It’s taken far too long to get it done but we’ve finally launched the Canadian Blog Directory.
We admit it’s not the most original name but we’re hoping the CBD makes it easier to discover and enjoy great blogs written by Canadians. The CBD is definitely work-in-progress but we thought it was time to pull off the covers so we could get some feedback and constructive criticism (or just plain criticism!). You can drop us a note at feedback@thecanadianblogdirectory.com. If you’d like to help us out, that would be great, particularly if you have a flair for Web site design.
The CBD was created by Mark Evans, an enthusiastic blogger, digital marketing and social media strategist and co-founder of the mesh conference, and Seth Singer, a Web site developer and video maker. Seth and Mark have worked together on a growing number of projects over the past two years, and the CBD is a labour of love that has often taken a backseat to work, clients, family and hockey.
We’d like to thank Geoff Weeks for the work behind the scenes on the technology that powers the CBD. It’s built on WordPress, and Geoff has done some amazing work to make it all come together. Dominique Fung also pitched in with some design inspiration and work.
We’ve seeded the CBD with more than 800 blogs but the key to the CBD’s success will be submissions and recommendations from blogs and bloggers. We plan to check out each submission to make sure they’re Canadian, active and offer good content. And yes, we concede “good content” is completely subjective. To learn more about how the CBD operates, check out the FAQ.
Again, we welcome your feedback and, of course, your blog submissions and recommendations.
